Resurrection: New Song, New Life: January Seminars January 27-30, 2013
The Center for Lifelong Learning announces its January 2013 Seminars, “Resurrection: New Song, New Life.” A dynamic leadership team, including Mary Louise “Mel” Bringle, William P. Mark Shipp, Jane Rogers Vann, Marsha Snulligan Haney and others will lead worship, workshops, and plenary sessions designed to
“We will offer a variety of opportunities for congregational leaders of all kinds – worship and education committee members, preachers, teachers, musicians, artists, choir directors, youth leaders – to engage in learning that will help them craft coherent, faithful worship, week after week, season after season,” said Sarah Erickson, Director of Lifelong Learning at the seminary. “By focusing on the single season of Eastertide, we hope to provide creative, imaginative learning experiences to assist participants in preparing for the most significant liturgical season of the church year.”
Two special events are open to the public (donations accepted). At 5:00 PM on Sunday evening, a worship service featuring Psalms will be led by seminary musician Michael Morgan in the Campbell Hall Chapel on campus. On Monday evening at 7:00 PM, theologian and hymn writer Mary Louise “Mel” Bringle, Chair of the Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song, will lead a hymn festival featuring songs from the new Presbyterian hymnal, Glory to God, at the Columbia Presbyterian Church adjacent to the seminary campus. The conference worship services are also open to the public. (See schedule below.)
Conference registration of $235 per person includes Sunday’s pre-event worship and a grant-writing workshop/worship resource session on Monday morning, Tuesday evening’s Psalm/Eastertide/art experience, and the full conference program of plenary sessions, workshops, and three worship services, and lunch on Monday and Tuesday.
